“Stamped Into History” Black History Celebration – HYMNS & GEMS for HIM

All are invited to “STAMPED INTO HISTORY” – a 3-day Black History Month celebration featuring live music, portrayals of historical figures, dance and a musical praise service! Be moved and inspired by the the rich African American culture and significance to our shared history. Enjoy the entertainment, history, education and inspiration in the relaxed, intimate indoor theatre.
Come early to enjoy special vendors (including African American custom clothing, jewelry, leather goods and more), cash bar and refreshments available for purchase.
A special “THANK YOU” goes out to Larry Crawford of LWCLEADS PRODUCTION and all the talented people who have donated their time and talent to make this wonderful celebration possible! A free-will donation will be accepted to offset the entertainers’ expenses.

Live theatrical musical, dance and oratorical look at Black history through United States postage stamps.
Special musical guest, professional flautist Gwen Cain! Classically trained, Ms. Cain’s passion began at the young age of 8 years old in Joliet. After receiving her BA in Music from IL State University, she took off in her professional career across the country and beyond. Her studio work and live performances include many well-know artists and venues, such as winning 8 Apollo contests in New York, performing with the Chicago Sinfonietta Orchestra and Apostolic Church of God Orchestra and accompanying artists from CeCe Winans to Gladys Knight and many more. Also an actor and SAG/ AFTRA member, Ms. Cain portrayed Deana Jones, the lead in the off Broadway production of “Dream Girls.” Ms. Cain’s many talents also include music therapist, entrepreneur and health advocate.

All ages are invited to enjoy this R&B variety show filled with music, singing and dancing! Relive the days of “Soul Train” with grooves from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. The driving force behind the live music will the R&B band, “Standing Room Only.” For those that want to get up and dance, there will be room for dancing down in front!

Musical praise worship service open to all denominations. Be uplifted and filled with passion for life and community. Enjoy an evening of power-packed inspirational words and gospel music. We welcome back R&B band, “Standing Room Only” and other special guest soloists and musicians.

Bicentennial Park Theatre is grateful to all the entertainers donating their time and talent over the three days. Although admission is free for all the events, we ask audience members to please consider making a free-will donation of any amount. All the money goes directly to the entertainers, who are dedicated volunteers. There will be an opportunity to donate to the performers and help offset their expenses for travel, meals and other expenses they personally incur to make these special performances possible. We thank them for their passion and sharing the love with all of us!
