Studio J Auditions by JDG
January 29 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm CST
FREE!The Joliet Drama Guild announces auditions for their new project Studio J! Studio J is going to be a collaborative collective of passionate theatre creators focused on high impact, low requirement productions.
What does Studio J do?
Each show will be created by the people performing it, playing to their strengths.
Short form improv? Sure! Sketch comedy? Sure! Fully staged productions of Moliere classics? Probably not. Basically, they want to see whatever skills one has as a theatre creator.
Where do we perform?
Wherever they want! While they have a home base here at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park Theatre, they will also be looking at performing at local bars, restaurants, banquet halls to wherever the opportunity takes them.
Who are they seeking?
They are looking to cast 6-12 performers, ages 18 and up, who will be members of the company for a full year. However, that year-long commitment does not mean they will be taking all your time. They will design their shows to be flexible enough to rotate through the cast.
Please note . . .
This is their first year, so a lot of things are very up in the air. This is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something they are hoping to build into a lasting and fun project. Also bear in mind, they are a community theatre and cannot offer pay, but they will pass the hat at any and all Studio J shows.
Auditions
Auditioning will consist of a few improv exercises; as well as possibly some traditional audition exercises, such as cold readings of some sketches. They will also have time set aside for a showcase of any special skills, so please come prepared to show off! They would also like to see samples from any performers/writers interested in joining, those can be emailed to: jake.thomas9393@gmail.com.
Auditions will be held on January 28 and 29, 2025 at Bicentennial Park in Joliet, address 201 W Jefferson St, Joliet, IL. Please sign up for a slot using this link:
