Start the holiday early with us on Tuesday!
All are invited to celebrate our nation’s birthday with the free Independence Celebration at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park (201 West Jefferson Street, Joliet) on Tuesday, July 3 from 6:00-10:00 pm.
Rock in the evening with three bands on the pavilion leading up to the 9:30 pm fireworks. Best place to see them – in a beautiful park setting along the waterway downtown Joliet.
•6:00-7:00pm OUTDrejas (winner of the park’s 2017 Battle of the Bands)
•7:15-8:30 pm Junkyard Dawgs
•8:45-10:00 pm Hot Mess (featuring Joliet Mayor O’Dekirk on drums)
•9:30 pm Fireworks
Enjoy food from a variety of vendors, along with a beer and wine tent north and south of Jefferson Street. Enjoy a variety of food from Chicago hot dogs, funnel cakes, pizza, tacos, jambalaya wraps, rootbeer floats, desserts & more from these fine food vendors: Cabana’s Pizza, Candy & Corn, Cheesecake by James, Duchess Funnel Cakes, J&J Parks, N’Awlins Edibles, Parmesans, Taco Maui and the Bicentennial Park’s “Billie Dogs.” Stop by the Park’s booth to get an original Park souvenir from 1976!
Bring blankets and chairs for grass seating. Parking is free around the park. Get there early to get the best spot. Please note: NO outside alcohol and NO pets. Glow vendors must pay for a park permit that is required to be displayed.
You can also take the historic walk in the park before or during the concert. There are historical markers honoring Joliet pioneers and their life along the river. Take a selfie with the colorful butterfly mural on the back of the building. Each posted selfie on social media helps fund service animals through the Blue Line Heroes Foundation.
