National Hammered Dulcimer Champion, Katie Moritz (raised in Joliet) is a hammered dulcimer player and teacher whose style of playing ranges from american old-time, to modern pop. Katie’s recognitions include five master/apprentice grants from the Illinois Arts Council for her traditional dulcimer playing. She has won both the southern and mid-eastern regional hammered dulcimer championships and in 2013 she was honored to win the national championship on her instrument. Currently, Katie teaches private students in Yorkville, IL and group workshops at festivals and gatherings around the country.
