Redneck Ravinia
Kick off your Memorial Day weekend with the 2nd annual Redneck Ravinia on Friday, May 25 at 6:30 pm. Admission is $5.00 for all ages. Ease into the long weekend with the sweet sounds of “Ol’ Time Country Players” lead by Ray Malmgren (drums).
Putting a fun spin on “fancier ravinias,” this one celebrates “laid way back.” No fancy picnic basket? No problem. We’re selling picnic boxes with: baloney sandwiches, spray cheese, crackers (still in the plastic sleeve), choice of Miller beers (sodas & wines also available), pickles and desserts (think “twinkle” and “he he”). Also, each box will have a “cracked Jack” prize to make any redneck proud: could be an “x” box, “beat” headphones or a “diamond” ring.
Our bachelor box ($10): 1 baloney sandwich, 2 Miller beers (may swap for 3 pops or waters), 1 big pickle, 1 bag of pretzels, 1 dessert and 1 prize.
Our trashy classy kin box ($25): 4 baloney sandwiches, 1 bottle of sparkling moscoto wine (may swap for Miller beer, pop or water), 1 can of spray cheese, 1 sleeve of crackers, 1 bag of sausage slices, more crackers (different kind), 4 desserts and 4 prizes.
For hill seating, bring a blanket, tarp, chair, crate or whatever you got for hill seating. Prizes will be given for best redneck “fancy-pants” outfit and picnic spread. Picnic baskets are welcome but no outside alcohol is allowed. We have a nice selection of wines and beers here.
This family-friendly event is presented by Will-Joliet Bicentennial Park, Inc. (nonprofit 501c3) and sponsored by Miller beer. You may pay at the gate or in advance online: https://www.tickettailor.com/all-tickets/22626/7d3d/
