UNIQUE STORYLINE
A concept born out of 45 years performing the same show for the “Festival of the Gnomes,” the veteran gnomes returned with new stories and riffs on the traditional scenes. “The Drunk’n Gnome” has been a growing hit with adults and provided some much-needed humor on problems gnomes and humans have in common: drinking, divorce, drugs, warehouses and warlords. Follow the gnomes on many adventures as they navigate 21st century problems through their stories told at the “The Drunk’n Gnome Tavern.”
After the curse of 2020, the “Drunk’n Gnome Tavern” is reopening and trying new things in 2021 – like live theatre! The gnome lady proprietor heard the theatre crowd is anxious to get out and see live productions…and they will also pay for their beer, unlike her lowlife gnome clientele.
As the gnomes pour back into their watering hole, gnome stories start to flow as does the brew. The audience will meet: divorced/ tipsy gnome versus and new husband/ former best friend gnome that ends like a WWW match; Black Rain and her seven gnomes, who can’t wait to escape her; gnome gal friends and their complicated relationships with male gnomes (“Sex and the City” and “Friends” mashup); quite a few randy gnomes (there is an actual Randy in the cast) and some “Karen’s” sprinkled in for more spice; gnomes gathered to play the popular warehouse game called P&P (People & Paychecks, similar to human’s D&D, Dungeon and Dragons); an elderly gnome war lord battles (or tries his best to keep his sword up) around the younger war lord, who may have daddy issues and some other gnomes that may be in protection at time of print. All these gnomes and other arrive at the “Drunk’n Gnome Tavern” in time for live streaming of “Miss Kabul” (riffing off “Miss Saigon”). This new musical should have never been made, so thankfully the gnomes (and the audience) only see trailers and clips of “Miss Kabul.” Audience members who know Mel Brook’s musical comedy, “The Producers,” will see even more hidden humor in the horrible musical.
In gnomeland, “The Drunk’n Gnome” show has been given a “T” (for troll) rating for language and subject matter; like the standard “R” rating for humans. The cast was pushing for the more restrictive “S” for Snotgurgle rating, but management put their big hairy feet down.
With many adventures, the show moves quickly as audience members travel the land of gnomes and the bar line at intermission. At the end of the show, the gnomes hope the audience is feeling relaxed enough to join in singing the classic “Drunk’n Gnome.”
